I recently had the pleasure of staying at the Intercontinental at Doral Miami for a couple of days before embarking on a cruise from the Port Everglades Cruise Terminal in Fort Lauderdale. The hotel is conveniently located about a 45-minute drive from the cruise terminal. This makes it a great option for pre-cruise accommodation.

Check in at the Intercontinental at Doral Miami
The hotel staff greeted me with quick and friendly check-in service when I arrived. I was happy to find out that the room was ready and waiting for me. The modern and open-plan layout of the reception area instantly impressed me. This also featured a bar and lounge for guests to relax in.
My hotel room
I stayed in a King Bed Club level room. Let me tell you, the bed was like sleeping on a cloud. My room had robes, slippers, a large shower, and a coffee maker with pods that were replenished regularly. Despite its proximity to the airport, the room was surprisingly quiet, allowing for a peaceful night’s sleep.
The Club Lounge in Intercontinental at Doral Miami
One of the highlights of my stay was the access to the Club Lounge, which offered breakfast, soft drinks throughout the day, and a happy hour in the evening with a variety of wine, beer, spirits, and snacks. While the lounge buzzed with activity and finding a seat could be a bit of a challenge at times, I enjoyed the nice added bonus during my stay..

The hotel’s bar, while lacking a bit in atmosphere due to its open-plan layout with the reception area, offered a nice variety of drinks and was a pleasant spot to unwind. I didn’t dine in the restaurant during my stay, but it seemed to be a nice option for those looking for a meal on-site.
The Intercontinental at Doral Miami pool
The pool area at the hotel was clean and comfortable, with plenty of loungers for guests to relax on. However, the proximity to the airport meant that there were low-flying aircraft overhead. This could be a bit distracting for those looking to unwind by the pool.
The local area
In terms of the local area, the hotel was easy to drive to. The hotel shuttle even took me to the nearby Dolphin Mall, which offered plenty of dining and shopping opportunities.
My conclusion
In conclusion, I would definitely consider staying at the Intercontinental at Doral Miami again if the price was right. While I may not opt for a Club Level room in the future, as the lounge may not be worth the extra cost, the overall experience at the hotel was pleasant and comfortable.
