Before I boarded the Azamara Pursuit at Lisbon Docks, I stayed for the night at the Corinthia Lisbon. It is a 5 star hotel located in the business district of Lisbon. It is about a 15 minute drive down to the old town and the hotel provides a complimentary shuttle service regularly from the hotel. Even if you didn’t take the complimentary shuttle, an Uber costs around 6-7 Euros and the metro station at the Zoological Gardens is only a few minutes walk away from the hotel.

Checking in to the Corinthia Lisbon

When I arrived at the hotel from Lisbon Airport in a taxi, I was greeted by the concierge who offered to take my bags straight away. This is the last I would see of them until I got up to my room.

Check in was a quick and painless process and the staff at reception were very efficient and professional. Within 5 minutes I was in my Deluxe King room on the 7th floor. Soon after entering my room, I got a knock on the door and the concierge was there with my bags. He came in and after setting the bags up on the luggage rack, he explained the features of the room which was a really nice touch.

My Deluxe King Room

The room was reasonably large with an extremely comfortable bed, bathrobes and slippers, a Nespresso machine and kettle for making tea and coffee, and complimentary bottled water. The bathroom was quite large with a bath and shower overhead.

The room was extremely quiet and I was also able to cast my tablet to the TV if I wanted more than the channels that were already on offer.

The Soul Kitchen and Garden at the Corinthia Lisbon

I decided to go down for a few drinks at one of the three restaurants the hotel has to offer. It was unseasonably warm for March so I was able to sit outside in the lush garden complete with cocktail bar. They also had heaters outside in case I was cold. It was a lovely ambience with a saxophone player serenading us through the evening whilst I drank very reasonably priced glasses of wine (around 7 euros a glass). The service here was excellent as well without being pretentious.

There were a range of dishes to eat but I decided not to eat here on this occasion.

Breakfast in the Corinthia Lisbon

Breakfast was buffet style in the Corinthia Lisbon and there was a wide selection of items including pastries (with pastel de nata – a Portuguese delicacy) and a range of hot and cold items such as freshly cooked to order eggs and omelettes, cheese and meats, cereals, yoghurts and many hot breakfast items. They also served complimentary sparkling wine which meant I could accompany my breakfast with a mimosa. What I found made this breakfast really special is that they had a pianist playing whilst I was eating which was a really nice touch. What a lovely start to the day!

Check out

Check out is normally 12 noon but I was able to get a late check out until 1pm before my taxi took me to the port. Again, check out was very efficient and the concierge took my bags and loaded them into the taxi for me.

I had an amazing stay here and the hotel is very worthy of its 5 star rating. When I come back to Lisbon I will definitely consider staying here again.
