There is some big news coming out of Azamara, and for once, it’s not just about where they are sailing.

I’ve been reading through their “Azamara Forward” plans, and it’s clear they aren’t just focusing on the destinations anymore—they’re putting a huge amount of effort into the ships themselves. If you’ve sailed with them before, you know the ships are intimate and comfortable, but these new updates feel like a significant step up.

Here is the lowdown on what is changing and why I think it matters.

Dining Gets a Major Upgrade

For me, food is half the reason to cruise, and there are two big changes here that caught my attention.

First, the Chef’s Table is finally getting the respect it deserves. If you’ve done this before, you know it used to be a bit of a pop-up affair, often hosted in a section of another restaurant. Now, they are making it a permanent fixture with its own dedicated space. It’s nice to see them giving this experience a proper home rather than just squeezing it in where there’s room.

Second, the main dining room, Discoveries Restaurant, is getting a complete makeover. They are refreshing the décor to give it a more modern, brighter feel. It’s the heart of the ship for dinner, so seeing it get a fresh look is good news.

The Atlas Bar is Going Global (and More Accessible)

This is probably the best news for those of us who enjoy a pre-dinner drink.

When Azamara launched the Onward, the Atlas Bar was the big talking point. The good news is they are now rolling this venue out to the rest of the fleet (Quest, Journey, and Pursuit).

But here is the best bit: they are changing how it works. Previously, it felt a bit like a premium-only venue. Now, they will be serving the standard included drinks list there as well. This is a smart move—it means you can enjoy the atmosphere without constantly having to sign for extra charges.

A new penthouse deck (and a sun deck to match)

There is some major structural work happening, specifically on the Azamara Quest.

Azamara Penthouse Suite

They are adding a brand-new Penthouse Deck on Deck 10 for the new suites. But even if you aren’t booking a suite, this renovation adds something for the rest of us: a new Sun Deck right above it. It sounds like the perfect vantage point for sail-ins. Having that extra outdoor space to grab a lounger is always a win in my book.

Real Benefits for Suite Guests

If you do book a suite, the benefits starting from 1 April 2026 are genuinely useful. These aren’t just empty perks; they make the trip easier:

  • Unlimited Starlink Wi-Fi: Finally, fast internet at sea.
  • Unlimited Wash and Fold: This is a game-changer. You can pack light and just get your clothes laundered as you go.
  • Ultimate Beverage Package: Everything sorted.
  • Butler Service: A very nice touch.

My Verdict

It feels like Azamara is saying, “We know we have the best itineraries, now let’s make sure we have the hardware to match.”

I’m particularly happy about the dining changes. Giving the Chef’s Table its own room shows they are taking the food seriously, and making the Atlas Bar more inclusive is a rare move in an industry that usually tries to charge for everything.
