I decided to stay in the Hotel Indigo Barcelona Gran Via for the night after my Azamara Pursuit cruise. One of the reasons I chose to stay here is that they offer an early check in from 10am for and extra fee. As we had to be off the ship by 8:45am, this made perfect sense.
Location of the Hotel Indigo Barcelona Gran Via

The hotel is located near to the Plaza España. This is an amazing square in itself and at the foot of Mount Montjuïc where you can get a cable car up to the summit for some amazing views. The Hotel Indigo Barcelona Gran Via is easy to get to from Barcelona Airport as the airport bus is a 2 minute walk away from the hotel. Meanwhile, if you want to go to the sights around Las Ramblas, the metro is steps away. This takes you directly there in around 10 minutes for less than 3 Euros each. There are also coffee shops, supermarkets and bars nearby.
Checking in to the Hotel Indigo Barcelona Gran Via
As I wrote earlier, I organised an early check in from 10am for an additional charge by contacting the hotel before my stay. When I got to the desk, the friendly Receptionist Ricardo did this with no issues in a friendly way. Within minutes I had my key and was on my way up to my room.
The Room

The room was quite spacious (especially after coming off a cruise ship!) and had everything I needed. This included robes, slippers, an Illy Coffee Maker with pods and a kettle. My only minor irritation is that once I used the 2 coffee pods in the room I was not able to get any more as they said they only replace it once a day.
The bathroom was also very spacious with a walk in shower and mood lighting. There was not much counter space to put your toiletries on but as I was only staying for the night it wasn’t an issue.

I had a great night’s sleep as the bed was extremely comfortable. They had electric blinds which kept the light out very well and the windows were well insulated against noise despite facing the main road.
The TV had a selection of Spanish channels with a couple of English language ones. It did have a version of Chromecast which meant I would watch Netflix but this was a bit flaky.
The Bar at the Hotel Indigo Barcelona Gran Via
The bar had a wide selection of drinks and was a comfortable place to sit and while some time away. I could also get coffee and cakes in the small coffee bar. The was a table where you could work with power points and comfortable seating.
Verdict
The Hotel Indigo Barcelona Gran Via is a well-located hotel with good transport links. It gives you peace and quiet with the option to go to all the main sights. The comfortable, good-sized room meant I had a great rest and I would come back to this hotel when visiting Barcelona again.
